Ecosystem Conservation & Management Project (ESCAMP)

ESCAMP funded a part of our main project to implement the pine enrichment project

Department of Forest Conservation- Sri Lanka

The Department of Forest Conservation (DFC), Sri Lanka is a partner that contributes to nursery establishment and construction, site preparation for planting, and the construction of fire protection belts for the pine enrichment project. DFC seeks to conserve threatened flora and their habitats in the Udakiruwa forest landscape by providing similar necessary logistics and guidance.

University Business Linkage (UBL) Cell of Uva Wellassa University

The University Business Linkage Cell of Uva Wellassa University is focused on connecting innovation and invention to the requirements of industry by fostering collaboration between the university, government, and private sector industries. UBL will direct the products and services born out of the project for potential market development with the objective of continuing to sustain the project further financially. In addition, UBL will assist in training local communities for conservation-oriented livelihood development in par with Community Social Responsibility mandates of Uva Wellassa University.

Rotaract Club-Badulla-Sri Lanka

The Rotaract is non-profit community organization, which provides an opportunity for young men and women (mainly undergraduates of Uva Wellassa University) to enhance their knowledge and skills aiming to improve their personal development. Their activities always address the physical and social needs of local communities. Rotaract Club-Badulla sought to extend their support for SANTED by providing the assistance in restoration and will carry out all conservation actions with local communities, where necessary.

Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts

Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, is a major Sri Lankan hospitality company which was recognized as the most valuable hospitality brand in Sri Lanka for 2019 with a brand equity of seven billion Sri Lankan Rupees. The company manages 15 four-star and five-star hotels across Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The vision of Cinnamon is to facilitate the socio-economic progress of the communities, whilst minimizing environmental footprint. The Cinnamon currently conducts projects to minimize emissions, reduce energy and water consumption and to reduce waste. In addition, the company conducts projects to conserve Whales and Leopards. The Cinnamon Hotels together with Nature Trails will be a partner in the proposed project and will engage in training selected young villagers as guides for tourism-based excursions. They will be trained on sustainable tourism initiatives by accommodating them in Cinnamon lodge and through on-site training at Udakiruwa Forest Landscape.

Ceylon Bee Honey Pvt. Ltd

Ceylon Bee Honey Pvt. Ltd. Is a private company formed as the sales and marketing arm of a non-for–profit beekeeping association with the industrialists who represent the ayurveda, agriculture and social development sectors. The aim is to achieve the highest qualities of bee honey industries in the globe, while strengthening the local Bee Honey producing families. They are representing the boxed Bee honey farmers from dry zone natural forest bound, wet zone upland and Uva basin villages. The company is not promoting wild harvesting, but thoroughly encourages the locals to farm close to natural forests. Hence, they extend their support to SANTED by providing necessary assistance to establish bee units in Udakiruwa and developing proper marketing channels in livelihood development of the local community.
